A family of artists traverses the country telling stories with its travelling theatre. The five performers are descendants of the wandering minstrels and entertainers of yore. They specialise in folk theatre – they tell horror stories and play spine-chilling ballads for common people. Today’s feature is “Kohlhaas”, the story of a horse dealer who, together with his wife, owned a farm in Brandenburg, went about his business peacefully and raised his five children to be God-fearing, hardworking and loyal. Until one day, when a minor incident changed his life – and those of many others – and his sense of injustice turned him into a robber and a murderer. A musical, burlesque play about power, capriciousness and resistance.

A coproduction between Theater Marabu and Agora Theater (B).
